I was reading the man page for pound and I found an interesting directive "Emergency". It allows defining a server that should be used when all back-ends are failing -- I guess the idea was to be able to provide something a bit more intelligent or friendly than the 503 error -- a branded page, with some means for alternative contact (e-mail, phone).
One way in which it can be implemented is to add an "emr" output terminal, which, if connected, will be used if all others are down. The main difference is that that output is not going to be used when others are available. This way, if you connect a small WEB server or NAS.http to it, with a simple error page, this may be sufficient.
For everyone -- is this worth adding (and if yes/no, why)?
Thanks,
-- Peter
