Can't change controller IP address with aldo

Hi,

I need to change the IP address of my controller, the wiki states that this can be done using aldo like this:


[root@localhost applogic-1.2.14c]# ./aldo set grid=<grid name> controller_ip=<current ip> new_controller_ip=<new ip>

But as you can see it doesn't work. Is this functionality not available in 1.2.14? In the wiki it says its available from 1.2.1 onwards.. .did I do something wrong?

Thanks for that Jeremy, if I don't get a definitive answer from 3tera I will give what you suggested a try. It doesn't really matter too much if I break this grid as its only for testing anyways.

This feature is supported only in ALD 1.2.9 and later (the ALD version used in AppLogic 1.2.14c is older).

The reference to AppLogic 1.2.1 in the documentation appears to be somewhat misleading - what it means is that prior to 1.2.1 no controller parameters at all were configurable using 'aldo set' (in those old versions, you could only set them when creating the grid).

Although ALD 1.2.9 was first included in the AppLogic 2.0 betas and it hasn't been fully tested with AppLogic 1.2.X, it is designed to be backward-compatible and you could use ALD 1.2.9 (or a newer version) with a 1.2.14c grid, if you expect to need on a regular basis the ability to change the controller IP (or the other parameters that are only changeable using the new_xxxx names). On the other hand, if this is a one-time deal, modifying the IP address directly in the controller (e.g., as Jeremy described it in his web page) should be OK.

Leo, thanks for clearing that up -- so the doc is referring to the version of ALD, not AppLogic (we let an internal component version slip into the product docs, sorry).

Definitive answer:
- AppLogic 1.2.14c does not support changing the IP address of the controller via aldo (although Jeremy's procedure will work fine)
- AppLogic 2.0.2+ does support it.

I am also moving this topic to the grid maintainer's forum.
