Operations/Support Engineer
3tera (3tera.com) is looking for a support/ops engineer. We are looking to fill this position in the Aliso Viejo, Ca office.
This position is for a mid-level operations/support engineer who will report to the Dir. of Operations and be responsible for new grid deployments and upgrades, pre/post sales engineering, operations organization, and direct customer support/training.
Main responsibilities include operational deployments of the company's AppLogic Grid Operating System as well as defining processes, run books and data organization for 3tera’s operations.
Secondary duties will consist of helpdesk operations, pre/post sales support, reproduction and testing of client issues, and client training.
The position will require shift work, on call duties after normal business hours and could require some travel (< 10%)
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements:
* Clear and complete understanding of datacenter practices and operations in a hosting environment.
* Experience in defining processes and templates for departmental use.
* Customer service-oriented attitude.
* Excellent client communications skills, both written and verbal.
* Strong and clear understanding of the English Language. Multi-Lingual a plus.
* Clear understanding of server virtualization technologies and methods.
* Minimum 3 yrs Sysadmin experience. Software development experience a plus.
* Knowledge of clustering and high availability infrastructures.
* Linux, LAMP, PostgreSQL installation and configuration
* Clear understanding and ability to communicate web application architecture.
* Understanding and passing development ability in html, Perl, bash, Java Script, Ruby, PHP, and/or Java
* Training and teaching experience is a major plus.
* Ability to work in a fast paced, professional environment.
* A positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
* Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks for many clients.
* Organized and detail oriented.
* Must be a self starter with excellent communication skills.
