Starting with Mac OS 10.7 Lion, java is not installed by default. To get the graphic console running, you need to:


1) Install java - this should be done automatically the first time your Mac needs it. If you are not sure if you have java installed, run 'java -version' in a terminal. If you need to manually install java, goto http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1421

2) Enable java applets for browser. By default the security setting for java does not allow you to run applets in browsers. To enable this, open Applications -> Utilitis -> Jave Preferences and check the 'Enable applet plug-in and Web Start applications' checkbox:
