View Full Version : Deleting an appliance from the catalog

I'm not sure if this is an OS X browser issue, but I can't delete an appliance from the catalog. I don't see any UI to perform the action. Right clicking on the appliance icon doesn't provide a menu. Single clicking doesn't select the appliance for any type of File > menu item action.
I checked the console to see if there was any command like "> catalog user remove appliance" but didn't see anything.
What am I missing?
Thanks!

Mike,
Maybe I am missing something -- Delete is the very first item on the right click -- ahem, context -- menu (both in 2.1 and 2.3)...
Also, you can destroy the catalog class through the CLI via the "class destroy" command, specifying the name of the catalog and the class you want to destroy.
Let me know if you still can't get the context menu. You were on a Mac... I am not familiar with right click there, I thought it is a key combo (like Apple-click)

Yeah, there is no context menu when I right click on anything in the catalogs. I'm guessing this is another OS X browser issue.
Thanks for the tidbit on the CLI command. That was what I was looking for. But before I go and execute this, it *is* case sensitive, right? I have a TOMCAT2 and tomcat2 class. I want to delete tomcat2.

Yes, rest assured, it is case-sensitive :)
Just a clarification: you can get the context menu on instances and canvas but not on catalog classes, correct? Are you using a two-button mouse or doing Alt-click?
Thanks,
- Peter

Yes, context menu on canvas and instances but not on catalogs. I'm using a two button mouse.
Oh! Just tried the keyboard, found a tid bit.
Control+Left Click works! But I have a two button mouse?!
Additionally, the other right click problem I had talked about before is fixed by Control+Left click. That was when right clicking on an appliance and selecting from the context menu would move the appliance to that x,y coordinate on the canvas.
So it seems just a slight tweak to look for right click would work...
(Just an FYI for the developers, two button mice have come with new macs since 2005. Before that, most power users bought after market mice. Heck, most people still do...)

Not a mac purist, then :)

Thanks for the useful info and feedback; I'll pass it along to dev & QA.
Thank you for using AppLogic!

Man, this is so much better now that I have a work around for the right click! That was killing me.
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! :)

I'm still pissed they took away my Home/End/PageUp/PageDown keys. :)
