I the following questions about 2.9.9 network ha.
1) Is this an active/active network config (nic bonding) or is it active/standby (if it’s the latter, will active/active be forthcoming?)
2) It’s not clear from the docs how to set this up on an existing (upgraded) grid. I see the commands for specifying and identifying a “switch” so I’m assuming that one just has to experiment with these until you get it right? Is there a specific document for “how to enable network HA on an existing grid” or something like that?

Also, when activating network HA, some servers need additional networking installed, so that would mean rolling upgrades on the hardware.. will network HA work if some of the nodes are upgraded and others aren’t? or is it necessary to have all the servers upgraded first?

Hey,

#1 In this release the network is active/passive, in a future release we do plan to make it a active/active in order to double the bandwidth. I do not have a projected date on that today.

#2 in short this is possible and is designed this way. I will make sure we write out a full process guide and get it posted.

In short.. you shutdown the grid, add the NICS and switches, then after reboot you simply run a command turning the network HA on and it will auto-configure the network.

I will get a full step by step for this.

Jessie

So this will somehow automatically figure out which new switche is the backup back end network and which one is the backup front end network?

if this is answered in the guide you're working on I'll wait and simply review that.

Thanks for the response,
Keith

yes,

The grid will do an auto network discovery on the reboot and setup your network correctly.
