After upgrading your grid from AppLogic 2.1.1 to 2.3.9, you may experience slow or erratic performance in your AppLogic applications (web pages may take minutes to load, access to the internet may be slow, etc). This is most likely due to a new feature we added to AppLogic 2.3.x; bandwidth enforcement. AppLogic now enforces the network bandwidth settings that are configured on all AppLogic appliances.

The appliances in AppLogic 2.1.1 had incorrect bandwidth settings (these settings did not matter since there was no enforcement). Most appliances in 2.1.1 had bandwidth settings of 1 Mbit/sec. As such, any singletons that you may have in your AppLogic applications will also likely have incorrect bandwidth settings; since they were likely derived from 2.1.1 appliances. Running such applications on a 2.3.9 grid may result in very slow application performance; unless the configured network bandwidth settings are adjusted.

Note that this problem only affects custom-built appliances and singletons. If you are using any of the standard AppLogic appliances from the system catalog (IN, WEB5, etc), these appliances have the proper bandwidth settings in AppLogic 2.3.9. However, you still may need to adjust the settings based on your bandwidth needs of your applications.

If you are experiencing slow performance with your AppLogic applications, please double check all of the network bandwidth settings on all of your appliances.
