Hello,
I am setting up a new application. I started customizing a Linux64 appliance and ran into problems when I was trying to download software for it. (I have branched it, but will refer to it as Linux64)
I've configured an IN gateway and an OUT gateway. The OUT is hooked up to the Linux64 IN terminal and the OUT is hooked up to the NET terminal of the Linux64. Both my IN and OUT gateways are configured with IPs from my control panel.
From the Linux64, I can ping the IP address assigned to it, the DNS servers in my control panel, and external IPs outside of 3tera. However, all DNS requests are failing. For example, if I type wget http://google.com:
"Resolving google.com... failed: Temporary failure in name resolution."
What am I missing?
TIA

I setup another application and redid everything. I'm still getting the same error. :(

Digerata,
The NET gateway's in terminal should be connected to the 'net' terminal of the LINUX64 appliance. This will allow LINUX64 to not only forward traffic for a particular host, but also resolve DNS and connect to any allowed IP addresses.
You can check out some of the standard stack templates (e.g., Lamp (http://doc.3tera.com/AppLogic23/RefAppLamp.html)), as well as the documentation on the gateway attribute (http://doc.3tera.com/AppLogic23/RefEditorClassEditorSimple.html#Interfaces) of output terminals (clarifying the difference between the 'out' output and the 'net' output of LINUX64 (http://doc.3tera.com/AppLogic23/CatGenericLinux.html)).
(I assumed you are using AppLogic 2.3.9; if 2.2.2, replace AppLogic23 with AppLogic2 in all URLs)
Does this help?

That is the case. I can ping and telnet to other IP Addresses outside of the grid. I cannot resolve any host names. To me, that would mean that my network connections are correct. I took a screenshot of my setup, but it looks like the forums don't allow attachments.
To restate, my OUT Gateway's IN terminal *is* connected to the NET terminal of the LINUX64 appliance. That does not appear to be the problem. Any other suggestions? My IPs, gateway, subnet, and DNS servers all match what is showing on my control panel.
Thanks,
-Mike

Let's try this:

digerata, thanks for the pic. To get access not to a single host but to the Internet (or a portion of it), please use NET, not OUT. If you want to keep most of the settings, just clear the remote_host property value in OUT, then shift-drag NET from the catalog over the OUT -- it will be swapped out, retaining all the IP address properties and the connections [even if that doesn't work for some reason, just delete OUT and drag in a NET].
See http://doc.3tera.com/AppLogic23/RefCatalog.html for details on the differences between OUT and NET.

Thanks!
I originally started with an application we setup in the Assured Success Plan. That application was using OUT and not NET and I was using that as a template.
Shift-drag is a handy tip. Thanks for that, as well.
