View Full Version : Manager Volumes Issue with NTFS08

I'm on the AppLogic 2.7.8 grid and was attempting to create an "ntfs08" volume via the "Manager Volumes" window. This option is available in the drop down list, but fails to run. For now, I've settled into using the "ntfs03" option.

I SSH'd into the "Grid Shell" and found that the file system is not listed when I run "help vol create".

When will the "ntfs08" option be available and functioning?

Kind Regards,
Chris

Chris,

No, at this moment NTFS08 is not supported by any filer appliance. We're working on getting the right PV drivers for Windows 2008, which will add support for NTFS08. There are also some quirks in Win2008 (e.g., it appears to not be able to copy its own filesystem and keep it bootable -- and that makes resizing volume not function well; it appears there is no way to resize a NTFS08 volume to a smaller size, even if there is lots of free space; if you know a way, let me know).

So, while Windows 2008 and its NTFS08 file system work fine under AppLogic, we don't yet provide filer support for NTFS08 (i.e., you have to create a raw volume and manage it through your Win2008 appliance).
