Hi,

I am looking for a platform that could handle my application which I already have (and which is easy), but which would allow me to load gigabytes of data onto my servers.

For example, I may need to load 100 Gigs. If we are talking about completely hosted apps, like Amazon EC2, then it is not practical to upload all of the data through a wireless connection.

So, I am looking for grid computing, in fact, 1 server per one client, where AppLogic shines, but I need a physical direct access to the hard drive to load.

What would the suggestions be?

Thank you.

top8,

Is this a one-time load or a frequent case?

If it is a one-time load, we can send the HDD to one of our data centers and move the data onto the grid. Also, many of our datacenters have very high bandwidth connections (up to 1Gbps) -- so if you have your data in a place with high upload speed, we may be able to do it online (even only at 100Mbps, you should be able to transfer the data in about 1-2 days).

Depending on the size of your grid (# of servers planned for the next 12 months), you also may get an enterprise license to install AppLogic on your own servers.

If you want to run a hosted grid (must easier to scale and use on utility basis), another option for a frequent upload is to have a server in a well-connected datacenter close to you, where someone can bring the HDD, connect it to the server and upload the data to the grid (which may be in a different data center). This way you can use the local datacenter's high capacity link to wherever your grids are. The transfer can be done over an encrypted connection (ssh quality encryption).
