View Full Version : parallel app appliances boot/shutdown
It would be great if there is an option for appliances within an app to be able to be started up and shut down in some sort of parallel manner.

Albert, pleasure to hear from you again.
Yes, there is -- just assign the same start order to the instances you want to start/stop at the same time. They will still be sequenced, as a group, with respect to any other appliances that have a different start order.

Hi Peter!
Thanks for the reply.
when we start up a few servers within the same start order, they seem to fire up in serial manner. Is there some option we need to specify duing 'app start' command?

Albert, no there is no special option -- parallel is the only way for appliances with the same start order. You may want to have support take a look.
Keep in mind that the display during 'app start' is always sequential -- i.e., appliances that start will be listed one after another, even if they started in parallel (if they take similar amount of time, then there will be a long delay followed by quickly outputting the name of each appliance that started).
Also, if the appliances are very busy during startup -and- you have single-CPU nodes -and- all appliances start on the same physical server, then, of course, they won't really start in parallel. But those are obvious things you have probably looked at...
Please escalate to support if you still have the problem.
